Duane Brown is a Modrall Sperling shareholder, recent Vice President of the Firm, and currently chairman of the Firm's Public Finance Group. He joined Modrall Sperling after becoming a New Mexico attorney in 1983. He has concentrated his practice on New Mexico public finance matters for the past twenty-five years.
Duane Brown is one of the principal Modrall Sperling bond attorneys and has represented various statewide bond issues, including the New Mexico Finance Authority, the New Mexico Hospital Equipment Loan and the New Mexico Mortgage Finance Authority. He has served as Bond Counsel and as Underwriter Counsel for numerous cities, counties and school districts throughout the State of New Mexico on general obligation and revenue
bond issues.
Other clients served by Mr. Brown have undertaken special assessment district financings, general obligation bond issues, education technology notes, revenue bond issues and, to the extent permitted by New Mexico laws, lease-purchase transactions. Mr. Brown has also served as disclosure counsel and underwriter's counsel on multiple New Mexico public
finance projects.
Mr. Brown is a registered lobbyist with the New Mexico Legislature and has represented several clients on legislation affecting public finance.
Mr. Brown is a member of the National Association of Bond Lawyers and the American College of Bond Counsel, and is also a member of the American Bar Association and the State Bar of New Mexico. He has an "AV" rating from Martindate-Hubbell.
