Leslie Padilla practices in Modrall Sperling's Litigation and Lobbying departments. Before attending law school, Ms. Padilla served as a Foreign Service Officer with the U.S. Department of State. In her diplomatic capacity, she served as a consular officer in Guatemala, a political and economic officer in Macedonia, and in several assignments in
Washington, D.C.
Upon her return to New Mexico, she worked for the New Mexico State Legislature at both the Legislative Council Service and the Legislative Finance Committee. She was then appointed to lead the Science and Technology Division of the New Mexico Economic Development Department.
Prior to law school, Ms. Padilla was an active member of the Santa Fe Council on International Relations. She has volunteered as an international election observer in Croatia and Macedonia.
In law school, Ms. Padilla was a member of the Moot Court Honors Program. In her third year of law school, she was awarded a university-wide fellowship from UCLA's Consortium of University Teaching Fellows and taught a UCLA undergraduate seminar on international law and
human rights.
While in graduate school, Ms. Padilla was a fellow of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute, in which capacity she worked for the U.S. House Subcommittee on Telecommunications and Finance.
In law school, Ms. Padilla was the Chief Articles Editor for UCLA's Journal of International Law and Foreign Affairs.
