Modrall Sperling Hires Eight New Associates

Modrall Sperling is pleased to announce it has hired eight new associates: Emily Chase-Sosnoff, Tomas J. Garcia, Vanessa C. Kaczmarek, Jordan L. Kessler, Zoe E. Lees, Meghan H. Mead, Lesley J. Nash and Sonia R. Russo.

Emily Chase-Sosnoff will practice in the areas of education, employment law and torts.  She is a member of the firm’s Litigation group.  She received her law degree from Chicago-Kent College of Law, where she attended as an Honors Scholar and served as Notes and Comments Editor of the Chicago-Kent Law Review.   She participated in Moot Court and achieved recognition as Best Advocate, Regional Finalist and National Quarterfinalist in competitions.


Tomas J. Garcia focuses his practice on commercial and natural resources litigation.  An Albuquerque native, he received his law degree from the Georgetown University Law Center, his master’s degree in public policy from the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University and his bachelor’s degree in political science from Yale University.  Prior to joining the firm, he served as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Justice Charles W. Daniels of the New Mexico Supreme Court.


Vanessa C. Kaczmarek focuses her practice in the areas of federal taxation and estate planning.  Vanessa received her LL.M. in Taxation from New York University and law degree magna cum laude from Brooklyn Law School, where she was a member of the Brooklyn Law Review.  She received her undergraduate degree in economics cum laude from Smith College.  Prior to joining the firm, she worked as a tax associate at the New York offices of Clifford Chance US LLC.


 

Jordan L. Kessler focuses her practice in the areas of oil and gas, mining, and Native American law in the firm’s Natural Resources group.  She received her law degree from the University of New Mexico School of Law, where she received the Rocky Mountain Mineral Law Foundation scholarship and was named the Dean’s Natural Resources Fellow.  She received her undergraduate degree from Tufts University.  Prior to attending law school, Jordan worked for the New Mexico Legislative Finance Committee.


Zoë E. Lees focuses her practice in the areas of energy and utilities, oil and gas and Native American law in the firm’s Natural Resources group.  She received her law degree from the University of New Mexico School of Law, where she served as Co-Editor in Chief of the Natural Resources Journal.  She received her undergraduate degree in history and Hispanic studies from Wheaton College.  Prior to attending law school, Zoe was named a Fulbright Scholar and served one year as a Teaching Assistant in Malaysia.


Meghan H. Mead focuses her practice in the area of healthcare law. She received her law degree from Stanford Law School, where she served as the Editor-in-Chief of the Stanford Environmental Law Journal and Co-president of Women in Stanford Law.  She received her undergraduate degree magna cum laude in history and economics from Mount Holyoke College.  Prior to joining the firm, Meghan practiced for more than four years at a firm in San Francisco, where her focus was on healthcare, and senior care and housing.


 

Lesley J. Nash focuses her practice in the areas of real estate, commercial transactions and business matters.  She received her law degree from the University of Notre Dame Law School, where she served as Executive Article Editor for the Notre Dame Journal of Laws, Ethics and Public Policy.  She received her undergraduate degree with honors from the University of Chicago, where she double-majored in Philosophy and Romance Languages and Literatures.


Sonia R. Russo focuses her practice in litigation, including civil rights and creditors’ rights.  She received her law degree from Boston College Law School, where she served as president of the South Asian Law Students Association and was a member of the Frederick Douglass National Moot Court Team.   She received her undergraduate degree in political science from Brown University.  While attending law school, Sonia served as an extern for the Honorable James A. Parker and the Honorable C. LeRoy Hansen of the U. S. District Court for the District of New Mexico.
