Tomas Garcia Named ABA Business Law Fellow

Tomas J. Garcia, an associate at Modrall Sperling, has been selected as a member of the American Bar Association’s Business Law Section Fellows Program for the 2015–2017 class.

The ABA’s Young Lawyer Leadership Program is designed to provide opportunities for young lawyers to become actively involved in the Section’s meetings and committees. This program focuses on cultivating and identifying lawyers with leadership potential. No more than 15 candidates are selected each year for this two-year program after a rigorous nationwide application process. Candidates must be in a practice for fewer than five years and have demonstrated a record of accomplishment and commitment.

Tomas’ practice includes a variety of commercial, healthcare, torts/personal injury, and natural resources litigation. He serves on the board of directors for the State Bar of New Mexico Young Lawyers Division, the public service arm of the State Bar. He coordinates and regularly participates in service projects, such as drafting wills for emergency first responders, preparing advanced healthcare directives and power-of-attorney documents for low-income senior citizens, and mentoring first-year law students at the University of New Mexico School of Law. Southwest Super Lawyers® selected Tomas as a Southwest Rising Star in 2015.
