Modrall Sperling Partner Named Among 2010 Women of Influence

Albuquerque - Marte D. Lightstone, of Modrall Sperling, New Mexico's largest law firm with offices in Albuquerque and Santa Fe has been named among the 2010 Women of Influence by the New Mexico Business Weekly.

Listed in the Best Lawyers in America® under Oil and Gas Law, and in Southwest Super Lawyers® under Natural Resources Law, Lightstone is a member of the firm's Natural Resources and Litigation Departments, practicing in the Oil and Gas, Renewable Energy, Indian Law, Environmental and Commercial Litigation Service Groups.  Lightstone advises clients on all aspects of oil and gas law, tribal resource and jurisdictional issues, and environmental law, and represents clients in all phases of complex commercial and environmental litigation, including the negotiation of complex settlements. 

A noted practitioner for 24 years, Lightstone served as the Chair of the New Mexico Oil and Gas Association Legal Committee from 2004 to 2010, is a past member of the Board of Directors of the Indian Law Section of the State Bar of New Mexico (SBNM), and is former Chair of the SBNM Section of Natural Resources, Energy and Environmental Law.  She has been co-chair of the Editorial Board of the SBNM and is a recipient of an Outstanding Contribution Award from the SBNM.  A graduate of California State College, Lightstone received a master's from Arizona State University and earned her law degree from the University of New Mexico School of Law where she has been a member and former chair of its Alumni Board and has served as an adjunct professor there on writing on Natural Resources Issues.

Also an accomplished cyclist and rock climber, Lightstone has provided legal assistance in both the development of the Johan Bruyneel Cycling Academy and in a professional cycling race to be held in Albuquerque in April 2010.  She also served on the Board of Directors of The Access Fund, the national advocacy organization for climbing in the United States.

Lightstone is admitted to practice in all New Mexico Courts.
