New Mexico Mining Commission Extends Sunset Date for Permit Fees
New Mexico Mining Commission decided to extend the sunsetting of Mining Act permitting fees from March 31, 2012 to December 31, 2012. This will maintain the Mining and Minerals Division’s staffing at eight employees, and will allow additional time to consider fee rates and possible improvements in program efficiency. Today’s regulatory revisions included other provisions designed to encourage timely submission of permitting fees so the Division’s employees can focus their efforts on their important permitting functions and not have to waste valuable time chasing down late fees from delinquent operators.
