Moses Winston is an associate in the firm’s litigation group practicing in the areas of healthcare, tort, and employment law. Moses has experience representing and counseling businesses and governmental entities in matters involving employment, tort, and governmental affairs.
Prior to joining the firm, Moses was appointed to several positions in New Mexico state government, including General Counsel & Legislative Coordinator to the State Personnel Office and the Indian Affairs Department. At the State Personnel Office, he helped to provide legal and operational counsel to a classified service of approximately 18,000 employees in 68 executive agencies. Moses regularly provided advice regarding employee discipline and development, compensation and labor law. He also served as a Special Assistant Attorney General in the successful defense of Governor Susana Martinez in a writ of mandamus action relating to a Class III Gaming Compact. As Legislative Coordinator, Moses was responsible for managing legislative initiatives and ensuring the desired resolution of legislation and fiscal priorities.
Moses comes from a military family and grew up throughout the United States. He graduated from New Mexico State University with a degree in Government and received his J.D. from the University of New Mexico School of Law where he received Clinical Honors. In law school, Moses completed an externship with the Honorable Jonathan Sutin of the New Mexico Court of Appeals and served as a legal intern at the Federal Communications Commission. He also served as the Professional Articles Editor on the Tribal Law Journal and was a member of the National Health Law Moot Court team.
In his free time, Moses enjoys staying active, skiing and competing in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
