Tomas Garcia sworn in as Secretary-Treasurer of the State Bar of New Mexico
Modrall Sperling shareholder Tomas Garcia was sworn in as Secretary-Treasurer of the State Bar of New Mexico at the New Mexico Supreme Court on December 10, 2025, along with 2026 President Allison H. Block-Chavez and President-Elect Lucy H. Sinkular. The officers were sworn in by New Mexico Supreme Court Chief Justice David K. Thomson and were welcomed into their new roles by Justice Michael E. Vigil, Justice C. Shannon Bacon and Justice Julie J. Vargas.
Tomas has served on the State Board of Bar Commissioners since 2020, and is a former chair of the State Bar of New Mexico Young Lawyers Division. He is the current Vice President of the New Mexico Defense Lawyers Association, and also serves on the New Mexico Supreme Court’s Rules of Evidence Committee. He previously served on the Court’s Uniform Jury Instructions-Civil Committee and the Rules of Civil Procedure Committee. Tomas is a member of Modrall Sperling’s Executive Committee.
