Modrall Sperling Attorneys Honored by State Bar

R. E. Thompson, honored for 50 years of service, is flanked by Chief Justice Judith Nakamura and State Bar President Wesley O. Pool.

The State Bar of New Mexico honored three Modrall Sperling attorneys at its 132nd Birthday Celebration. R. E. Thompson was honored for his 50 years of service, and Christopher P. Muirhead and Stan N. Harris were celebrated for achieving their 25-year marks.

R. E. is an active litigator in the area of civil litigation, primarily involving commercial disputes, products liability, class actions, malpractice, negligence, and insurance. He has a long history of public service, having served as a United States Attorney for the District of New Mexico and a New Mexico State Senator. As a member of Modrall Sperling, he has held numerous leadership positions, including serving as firm President from 2007 – 2012 and as head of Modrall Sperling’s Litigation Department from 1993 – 1998.

Chris, whose practice is focused on public finance, chairs the firm’s Public Finance practice group, and served as head of the Transactions Department from 2012 – 2014. Numerous New Mexico municipalities and counties rely on Chris for advice on their public financing matters such as general obligation bonds, gross receipts tax revenue bonds, utility system revenue bonds and special district financings.

Prior to joining Modrall Sperling, Stan served as Environmental Counsel to United States Senator Pete V. Domenici in Washington, D.C. Today, he uses that experience in disputes involving cultural property, public lands, Indian lands, oil and gas, environmental infrastructure, mining, and air quality issues. Stan is currently a member of the firm’s Executive Committee.
